Classic Rock magazine (the UK national music magazine) has reviewed Panic Room's debut album 'Visionary Position' in its forthcoming edition... and the word on the streets is that it's going to be a very, very good one! Panic Room were also asked to put 1 of their tracks from 'VP' on the magazine's cover cd this month (-a true accolade), so for you shiny new Panic Roomies out there, this is a golden opportunity to snap up a bit of 'PR' history in the making! We'll give you more info on this when we've got it....

Well, the Mostly Autumn Magic Bus is still on its merry way around Europe, touring to happy jumping audiences everywhere! The new material from MA's latest album Glass Shadows is sounding awesome, and Anne is having a great time playing with this lovely bunch of people! Having served up a huge dose of Rock on the poor unsuspecting people of the UK, the Bus is now wending its wild way across Europe, to play the first of 2 summer festival shows, this weekend!.... Mostly Autumn (featuring our very own AMH) will be performing at the Art Rock Festival in Rechenbach, Germany, on Saturday 24th June - see the MA Website for details! Following this, their final gig of the summer will be at the prestigious Cambridge Rock Festival in July... at the Rockinbeerfest on 20/7/08, to be precise! Also playing that night will be Andy Fairweather-Low, Marillion, and Breathing Space (also featuring MA's Olivia Sparnenn!)... so it promises to be a fantastic Midsummer's Night of Rock! When all the festival chaos blows over, Anne will be concentrating on a number of things for the forthcoming months - 1) recording her solo material, for the next AMH solo release (which she promises to try & get out there as soon as possible!!!)... 2) practising & writing with Panic Room for their soon-to-be-announced Autumn Tour (!!!)... 3) learning up some more of the Mostly Autumn set (especially the rest of 'Glass Shadows'!), in preparation for November-December shows... and 4) Devoting as much time as possible to some very dear friends, who are going through some life-changing events this year! You know who you are! (weddings, babies, etc etc... ;o)
.....SO, loads going on! We'll let you know any more news as soon as we get it!!!

Yes, this April you can see Panic Room playing LIVE and LOUD in a town near you... There are only a select smattering of dates this tour, so get your tickets NOW and be present for the start of something truly special. Anne has been working with Panic Room since the demise of Karnataka in 2004, and as many of you will know, the new band includes 4 members of that old original line-up - Jonathon Edwards, Paul Davies, Gavin John Griffiths, and AMH herself! But, the music is veeeery different, and the couple of years that they have taken to put this album together will be immediately evident on first listen - this is a debut album with a huge panorama of sound, from its eclectic styles to its mind-blowing range of dynamics... Expect ball-bustin' dramatic rock tracks, upbeat pop anthems, a couple of stunning & atmospheric filmic soundtracks, and a couple of quirky curve-balls thrown in just for good measure! Reviews are already beginning to pour in - see the Panic Room Website for more details. When our new AMH website goes live later this summer, & with more webspace, we will include some more Panic Room info too!!! But for now, you need to get over to the Panic Room website & 1) Buy the album!!!, 2) Make your travel plans to see them live!!!, and 3) get ready for the ride of a lifetime... Fresh back from her European Tour shenanigans with Fish this month, Anne is now in recovery! ;o) The dates were all a storming success, for both Anne and the band, and she was delighted to garner a whole load of new fans & friends! CDs were flying out too, so if you were one of the happy customers out there, do write to us by e-mail or on the website, to tell us what you think & how you're doin'! Very soon Anne will be preparing her Tour Thoughts for you, a kinda diary in retrospect... there were far better things to be doing out on the road than writing a diary! And it was just too manic & busy. But she wants to share her memories with you, so look out for that soon... Meanwhile, we haven't forgotten about the website - or the competition! You all sent in some great (and some amusing!) ideas, so thank you all for that. The best idea will be announced veeeeeeery sooooon... And the game ideas have been helped along nicely by your contributions - so THANK YOU LIL' RED ROCKERS! The new-look site will be launched sometime in the next few weeks... and we can't wait! :o) Recording plans are still in the pipeline, we know you're all gagging for the new material to be available, so Anne will do her very best to bring this to you a.s.a.p! We'll keep you posted on how & when this will take shape.. But you can be sure, that it will be an explosive disc when it is done.* *N.B. not Mission-Impossible-explosive... that would be hideous. And require much insurance on our part. ;o>

Following a fantastic run of gig dates so far this year, we're now focusing our attentions a little closer to home. 2006 has already taken Anne to London showcases (the Bedford; Songbirds), headline acoustic nights (the Monkey), through to her very own Headline Show at the prestigious Flavel Arts Centre down in sunny Dartmouth, Devon. The gigs are set to continue in style, with Anne's support for FISH just around the corner, which take her from Southampton, UK, out to Europe for her very first solo overseas shows! Menwhile though, there's a lot going on here in the Little Red Rock Rooms... And the biggest story of all, is our re-vamp of the website! Yes, it's time for a spring-clean, and a total over-haul, as we call in hotshot designer Richard Pocock to mske our website dreams come true! The site was originally designed in 2002, and though we still love its colours etc, so much has been added over the past couple of years that we've been aware of losing the consistency, the flow of it, a little; we've added lots of pages, and have ideas fo even more... so rather than trying to squeeze lots of things into one small office, we're upgrading to bigger shinier premises! It's a kind of promotion for our little website! So we hope you like the new direction when we've got it up and running; any comments or suggestions are welcome, as we're working on it now to bring you the very best site we can, and give you everything you need. COMPETITION - as you'll know if you're on the Mailing-List, in our last Newsletter we launched a competition to find the best ideas for our new website feature - the Game!!! :o) We're v excited about this, and have had ideas trickling in... but we need MORE, keep them coming! For more in-depth info about this competition, click on the 'Newsletters' link at top of this page, and go to the latest letter listed there, 'March 06'... & in this Newsletter you'll find all the latest news, plus full details about the comp. But the basic plan is: we're looking for your ideas, however wacky or silly, however in-depth or detailed, for the new game we're going to design for the new website! The prize will go to the best idea, and if it's possible, we'll incorporate those ideas into the finished game too; either way, the best idea will win all manner of goodies, including 2 signed cds, signed pics, plectrum, postcard written to you by Anne, & other silly bits'n'pieces! Get your ideas in to us now (closes mid-April), by writing to:

We wish you all a very merry Christmas!!! Have a great & festive time, and enjoy the rest! (after the mad rush is over ;o) Here's wishing you all a glittering New Year, and our thanks for being such loyal and supportive fans all this year... you make it all worthwhile! And you're the reason Anne's gonna carry on rockin' into 2006, & bringing you all with her! It's going to be a big year, all round... Bring It On!

Okay - hands up who was listening?!!! This Saturday past, 18th December, Anne was guest for the full 3hr show of Jerry Ewing's "Metal Hammer and Classic Rock" show on Total Rock Radio! (www.totalrock.com / Sky TV channel 938) Joined by her dear friend Rachel Jones (ex-Karnataka), the three of them had a very festive time in the studio, and Mr Ewing played 5 of the EP tracks (running out of time slightly after he had to be patched up at the beginning of the show by paramedics, following the bare-knuckle brawl with "Helder" on arrival. Ewing is said to be recovering nicely now, but careful listeners may have noticed some bitterness aimed at our red-clad rock gal in his schoolgirl sniping live on air. He has since apologised, and said: "It's true - she beat me fair and square, guv" ~*~ Expect to see Anne back on the show in the New Year. Maybe. ;o>

Anne's sincerest and most humble apologies go out to all who attended last Thursday 16th December's gig at the Brook in Southampton, where Anne was due to support Limehouse Lizzy in their sold-out spectacular... Setting off just after 3pm on the M25, Anne was still there at 7, having viewed two accidents, a broken-down-in-the-fast-lane frenzy, and slower-moving traffic than the post office on OAP pension-collecting-morning! Then, to add to the "humour" of the situation, her car overheated, and after attempting a cool-off period, the battery also died and the RAC had to be called out!!! So, deepest apologies go out to all those who attended the Brook and had hoped to see Anne- especially those who'd made special changes in their plans to do so... :o( Anne was eventually kick-started on the M25 at 9pm, but by then it was slightly too late to embark on the remainder of the 1hr+ journey to Southampton! We hope all who rocked on down to the Brook had an awesome night anyway, and are sure that an incredible gig was had by all! Anne had contacted the venue & tried to get messages through to the (sound-checking) band, but is sorry to the fans and band for any inconvenience caused. Please contact Anne in person to tell her any anecdotes caused by this minor disaster, and also if she can do anything to reimburse costs incurred by the event! Keep ears pinned back for news on a return attempt there in March for Anne, with the mightly Liz again! *x*

This is to follow up the air play Total Rock have been giving Anne in the past couple of weeks since the EP's release - huge thanks to them, and especially Jerry Ewing. Anne's still gonna have him, in the live-on-air fight though. ;o> |

Today we are thrilled to announce that the AMH EEP has just gone to print, and so should be with us by mid-November, with a bit of luck! The EP's title is now confirmed as "The Contact", to allude to both the important networking and connecting factor, between Anne & others, to make this debut work fly... and also the more spiritual side of making music, the channelling through that Anne has always felt, connecting to the other side. This becomes even more bitterly poignant, as Anne has sadly lost her beloved grandmother, her soulmate, recently. ~ * ~ News will be with you imminently on how to go about securing your copy of this very special work; and of course, Anne will be appearing all over the UK in the next few months, so keep following the gig guide and you can even get her to sign your copy if you go along! CD's will of course be on sale at all gigs. The price for the disc is £9

This month sees Anne perform again with Limehouse Lizzy, and in doing so, a return to the Milton Keynes Stables - her first time here solo, having frequented the venue with Karnataka :o. A sad time. Also the pairing can be found at the famed Wulfrun Hall, Woverhampton, later this month- see giglist for details. The EEP (!) is coming along wonderfully- both Anne and her mixman Adam have been incredibly busy, but there remain only e few tweaks to be made, and it's ready for mastering and production!

That's right- not ELP (of legendary Keith Emnerson fame, who Anne's other half Dave currently tours with!)... and not EP.... But EEP! Is what Anne's dubbing her new recording, an extra-extended-player which was intended to be 4 tracks, but has now risen to 6! In the pipeline for a long time now, and finally having commenced earlier this summer, Anne's new recording is her first solo disc, showcasing both her vocal/instrumental skills, and also her dramatic songwriting. For a long while now, fans have requested a solo offering from Ms Helder; and now, they shall have their appetite sated! The recording began as a simple acoustic guitar + vocal ensemble, all played by Anne; but over time and with much care, has grown into a more intense work, with programming, strings, and piano work- though keeping the underlying acoustic root. Also featured now are the dazzling lead gtr skills of Mr Dave Kilminster (see Links page), enhancing and defining the tracks, and also bass work from Adam Pain, of M-Channel (Sky Digital 475) and ACM college fame. This is not a band album - but Anne hopes you will definitely put it in the Rock category!!! She hopes you'll all feel the power in it, and has every intention of coming back with a full band sound at some point in 2005, developing these tracks and new material... she has been performing on the live stage for many a year, and writing since childhood, so has a huge wad of work to share with the unsuspecting public! Currently at mixing stage, we'll keep you posted here with updates on this exciting new release!

It is with great sadness that Anne acknowledges the recent split of the band Karnataka, with whom she has been playing and touring for the past 3 years. The band has, through personal reasons - (and any gossip on the issue is laughably false, take it from us) - decided to dissolve, after many years on the scene as a successful band. The most recent recordings and tour successes have secured the "Mighty K" their place in the halls of rock history, and the story has been gathering speed all the time, and set to break into even bigger waters this coming autumn/winter. But the band take with them their endless wonderful memories of music, friendship, and life on the road... and they stay deeply connected friends, above all else; which shall last a lifetime. Anne wishes all her band-mates her love, support and empathy, for what is a traumatic time for all of them. And, every success for a future path laid in the stars... These dreams are not over. The story will continues, for each and every one of the K team- stay close to the websites etc for news of what's next for each of the band. Too much talent in each of their souls, to not see amazing things arise from out of the ashes.x

Following the success of the Midge Ure supports, Anne has been invited to pair up fo several more, in the New Year and also a special November show... Keep checking Gig page for details! Meanwhile, Anne is also taking to the keys this Tuesday, 31st August- to play for her old friend and great creative soul, Ryan James, on his new band project. Ryan's music is both dark & brooding and cute & quirky, in diverse moments! And Anne's pleased to be helping out with her piano/vibe/string touches to add to the drum, bass & electric gtr new direction. (Ryan's last recording was a feat of programming & sequences) More info at www.ryan-james.co.uk

That's right! Now confirmed are two supports Anne will be playing solo for MIDGE URE's UK Tour!!! The dates are August 20th & 21st, in Tavistock and Falmouth (both in South-West of UK ~ see Gigs for details). Midge plays across the UK, in his highly intimate, warm and revealing solo format - as well as select full-band shows. These dates will see Anne performing solo before the also-solo Mr.Ure, and she hopes to do justice to his stunning set with her musical support, comprising all original material. NEW! EXTRA LIMEHOUSE LIZZY SUPPORTS... Also headline news, Anne has secured a smattering of dates to follow-up her recent support for Limehouse Lizzy in Narberth (see news item below). Support and headline got on great and were keen to work together again- so a glance at the gigs page will show a healthy sprinkling of "L-L" supports from now through to December, from Milton Keynes to Crewe, Surrey to Southampton! OTHER ALL-NEW GIGS Staying on the front page, Anne is also happy to be out and rockin' with Tigerdragon over the summer and autumn, with dates including this Saturday (17th July) at the Tavern in Swansea and a return there to headline the Music Festival on August Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 31st Aug). And, following the colossal tour of May and June this year, the "Mightly K" that is Karnataka are back out on the road where they truly belong, this October. They return for the Autumn tour with a small run of dates, but at highly prestigious venues. And, following the huge success of the spring dates, and of experimenting with her new toy, Anne can't wait to get back out there on the electric gtr! For what had been a fairly scary move, now you can't get her off it! So, there's a helluva lot happenin'!... Keep tuning in for even more news as it happens...

The Karnataka tour is now at its hugely successful completion! The tour gained the band enormous new responses and kudos, which will continue to pay off over the next few months... Look out for the band on their next tour in October 04. Also, highly recommended is the new LIVE ALBUM of the band, a double CD showcasing the complete best of Karnataka live - which is where magic & moshin' really fuse! |

Anne is currently out on tour for the whole month of May, with female-fronted nu-rockers Karnataka. Very soon she'll be back with a diary update for you on that whole tour- until then, keep your eyes peeled on the K website at www.karnataka.org.uk |
|
|
Yes, the two new pages are finally working! Due to technical probs with link-up between pages, you were unable to view the Diary page and this News page, although they were loaded up last October- well, here they are and we hope they enhance your enjoyment of the AMH site! Any suggestions or requests, please do feel free to e-mail- this site is for your entertainment, information and interaction! Keep it coming... |
|
|
First up! The introduction of the brand new Diary and News pages! That's right- after a while in operation, Anne desperately wanted her site to include a Diary page, for her to write personally about her gigs, travels, experiences in rock'n'roll(!) and feelings on all this... so here it is, on the site NOW for her to have free reign with, and you to enjoy! Plus, the News page makes its debut this month. Here you'll be able to find the latest info and stories, further than just the new gig listings, and rather than being updated by entries from the Webhost in the Guestbook! Leaving that free for your bantering needs, and a whole new page dedicated totally to keeping you informed on AMH's movements!

In this month's new edition of Classic Rock Magazine, find Anne on p.18's "View From The Bar" gossip column... where, underneath a sultry photo of Anne and Rachel of Karnataka, who should be mentioned alongside Robert Plant, Limp Bizkit etc, than our very own AMH? "While the Reading festival hardly offered up its share of Bar-worthy material, the same cannot be said of Canterbury Festival, attended by a CR posse intent on having a good time. This arrived mostly in the form of the legendary Bonham family after Robert Plant, hinself wandering freely backstage, had played a blinder on th Saturday night. Beer flowed steadily, guitars were strummed by the lake backstage, and Little Feat songs were sung long into the night. However, perhaps the most surprising revellers were Welsh proggers Karnataka, or to be more precise Karnataka's Anne-Marie Helder, who took it upon herself to plant a feisty left hook on one CR writer who dared to agree with her assumption that she was the "pointless musical member of the band"!" In the shops now, punters! |
